Suzuki Showcase: Spring 2017

Our students have been working hard all year to show off their skills at the Suzuki Showcase! The requirements for this show are that the students have a) choose their best piece, and b) have performed it in a recital or concert at least once before.

Join us in applauding them on their achievements this year!

Refreshments to follow the performance.

Every Child Can Class

Our cello instructor, Grace Field, will be teaching an Every Child Can Class at the Suzuki Academy of Kalamazoo! Please contact Grace for more information: 269.365.0966 or gracenotes269@yahoo.com

Every Child Can!© (ECC) is an introduction to Dr. Suzuki’s philosophy and its application to Suzuki education. For parents, teachers, prospective teachers and others, this course provides an inspiring, in-depth look at the Suzuki approach to teaching and learning.

In addition to exploring the elements of the Suzuki approach and its far-reaching goals, it includes an introduction to learning styles, history of the development of Suzuki education, the role of parents, the importance of Suzuki pedagogical training, and an overview of the SAA’s role in supporting teachers and parents. A fast-paced, engaging and inspiring program, ECC includes video materials and SAA-developed courseware, and provides each participant with useful reference materials (manuals) for later study. For teachers, ECC serves as the first course in the Suzuki Association of the Americas’ Teacher Development Program.

Mindfulness Class Suzuki Fundraiser

A Suzuki parent, Eric Nelson, is offering free stress and pain management classes as a fundraiser for Suzuki! This class will be held following group lessons. We suggest a donation of $5-10, and all proceeds will benefit the Suzuki Academy of Kalamazoo.

Come join us and learn simple mindfulness practices to use when you're stressed or anxious. Research shows mindfulness improves: attention, emotional balance (anxiety, fear, and anger), cardio health, relationships, and much more.

Eric has 25 years' experience in the Mind-Body Health field, received his mindfulness training through the University of Massachusetts Medical School and worked at the Fetzer Institute as a mind-body health program developer for 22 years. He established Stress Management Solutions in 2011, to provide mindfulness and stress management training in the Greater Kalamazoo area.
