Violin & Viola

Our Suzuki violin program consists of two lessons weekly, a private lesson and a group class. Private lessons provide a nurturing environment where students and parents participate in self-paced instruction. Through lessons, the parent will learn with their child, and be able to act as their “home teacher.” Our instructors work with the student and parent on how to establish a practice routine, so that important concepts can be cultivated at home. Throughout all of this, the goal is to learn to love music. The ability to play music with others is essential to having a rewarding musical journey. In group class we learn how to play as a violin section, which includes learning how to follow a leader, how to listen to others while playing, and how to use all the skills learned in private lessons in a group setting. It’s also an opportunity to work with different teachers and guest artists, learn new music and styles, and to play games and have fun.
